Quench Your Thirst Like a Witch or Wizard: All the Butterbeer Locations in the Wizarding World

Butterbeer, that golden nectar of the gods for many a fan of the Wizarding World! When Universal Studios started work on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, they knew many of us dreamed of trying that sweet, butterscotchy goodness.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando began in 2012 with the opening of Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure. With Hogsmeade came the drink that we know and love: Butterbeer. It made sense; the first mention of the golden, slightly alcoholic drink did involve the little village, after all!

The famous candy store loved by generations of Hogwarts students is a treasure trove of magical sweets! Not only can you buy a variety of candies from books and movies, but there is also a selection of fudge to choose from if your heart desires. Among the flavors is a butterbeer fudge that is just as good as the drink but has a delicious fudge texture!

Three Broomsticks

The Three Broomsticks is an iconic part of the Harry Potter books and movies run by the lovely Madam Rosmerta. In Islands of Adventure (IoA), the inn is home to a quick-service restaurant serving classic British meals and, of course, butterbeer.

Guests of the Three Broomsticks can get their butterbeer fix in a few ways. The restaurant serves the classic drink and a frozen and hot version to choose from. If you’re feeling more snacky than thirsty, fear not; you can still have your butterbeer and eat it, too!

A butterbeer potted cream (think of a butterscotch pudding), butterbeer ice cream, and a butterbeer ice lolly. The ice lolly is the newest addition to the menu. It is a butterbeer ice cream pop dipped in white chocolate. Yum!

The frequently visited tavern has been the watering hole for many a witch and wizard (muggles now included, too!) for centuries. At IoA, Hog’s Head is connected to the back of the Three Broomsticks and acts as a pub to get alcoholic drinks. The standard forms of butterbeer, classic, frozen, and hot, are also served!

If you’re not feeling like waiting to get a drink at the Three Broomsticks or go into Hog’s Head, don’t worry; the outdoor drink carts have you covered! There are two beverage kiosks in the form of butterbeer carts: one is close to the front of the Three Broomsticks, and the other is near the path you take to reach the Jurassic Park area in front of Hogwarts.

Like Hog’s Head, these carts serve the three types of butterbeer. However, if someone in your group isn’t in the mood for this magical favorite, they also have bottled drinks and light snacks.

Leaky Cauldron

Another park, another iconic Wizarding World pub! The addition of Diagon Alley brought London’s Leaky Cauldron to life. Here, guests can grab a bit of traditional English fare, and even a butterbeer. The pub offers the same variety of butterscotch ale drinks and treats as the Three Broomsticks. This means butterbeer served cold, frozen, or hot, butterbeer ice cream, butterbeer potted cream, and the butterbeer icy lolly!

The addition to Orlando’s magical locations was the Addition of Diagon Alley to Universal Studios Florida in 2014. Iconic locations such as the Leaky Cauldron and Ollivanders came to life for guests to enjoy and visit. With Diagon Alley also came many of the variations of butterbeer that we have at the parks now! So, let’s take a look at what kinds of butterbeer you can find and where in the famous magical shopping area.

The Hopping Pot

Who would have thought we’d have two drink locations in the same area named after The Tales of Beedle the Bard? Regardless, The Hopping Pot is an easy way to grab a drink, maybe a light snack, and go about your day. Unlike The Fountain of Fair Fortune, this walk-up counter has all three forms of butterbeer and the chance to get a butterbeer ice cream with it!

Named after one of the tales of Beedle the Bard, The Fountain of Fair Fortune is the place to go for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Of course, if one calls themselves the Fountain of Fair Fortune, one must offer the most prized beverage at their fountain, butterbeer.

Unlike the other locations that offer all three forms, this location only serves regular and frozen butterbeer. However, as a consolation prize, you can also order butterbeer soft-serve here.

Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour

Beloved by wizards and muggles alike, Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour is your one-stop shop for creamy delights! Filled with unique flavors such as orange marmalade, Earl Grey and lavender, and granny smith apple, it’s no surprise there is also a butterbeer flavor! The cold and frozen butterbeer options are also available at the shop, though not the hot version; it’d probably melt the ice cream.

Sugarplum’s Sweetshop

Sugarplum’s is the Honeydukes of Diagon Alley. It is filled with various wizarding sweets and has a fudge display for visitors to choose their favorite flavor. Like Honeydukes, butterbeer fudge is available at Sugarplum’s.

Bonus Round: Starbucks in CityWalk

The Starbucks at CityWalk isn’t a legit butterbeer location. However, I feel a secret menu item warrants its place here. Many variations of a butterbeer-inspired order can be found online. Many involve some combination of the caramel and toffee syrups.

Being a custom order means you can customize it to your liking, and I’ll give you bonus points if Harry Potter inspires the name on your order! And that’s not even the best part! Since it’s not an exclusive item at Universal Studios, you can order it at any Starbucks and add some magic to your day.
